Yep! I’m a mess and I’m embracing it! 😊
Friends…..I am taking a break from the blog.
When I started Southern Girl Eats Clean six years ago I was all in and completely determined to save the world with clean, healthy, real food. Cinde joined me about 2 years ago and we changed the name to Southern “Girls” Eat Clean. We both received positive health benefits from changing our diets.
Over the last couple of years, I have dealt with some other health issues that I didn’t see coming. In my mind I thought by putting good stuff into my body I would prevent any health issues. I was banking on floating right into old age with perfect health. Well, I got a rude awakening and this quote by Erin Odom sums it up…..
“Sometimes God will throw us in the deep end so those of us gripping our little floaties for dear life will finally learn how to swim.”
God taught me to swim.
He has said to me, “Settle down, Alisa…. You are not in control, I Am”
I was putting all my faith in the food and not in the one who made the food.
I feel it’s time for me to take a step back, evaluate things and take care of myself. I truly believe that eating a healthy diet, high in plant based whole foods is always the best choice however, I am not in control of this life and I cannot let healthy food be an obsession. I have been guilty of that.
We all need to take each day given to us as a blessing and a gift from God. We are going to go through tough times….It’s inevitable but, when we go through struggles, we should learn from them and come out stronger on the other side. That is where I am now…on the other side. I am changing things up a bit and being a more grateful, mindful, steadfast, selfless, Kingdom focused person.
In saying all this…..we are not shutting the blog page down completely. It will still be available and so will our Facebook page and Instagram feed. Cinde may still do an occasional post but, I will not be posting for the remainder of the year. We will decide by the first of the year if we will continue the blog or possibly change the format and go in a different direction. We will see where God leads.
Thank you to everyone that follows us and for all the support you have given me over the last six years. I am so very thankful for sweet friends.
“O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.” – Psalm 63: 1-5
